Letter From the Editor

By: Shayna Sullivan ’22

Hey everyone! I decided to write to you all to introduce myself. When Kylie, our former President asked me to take over the magazine, I was both honored and extremely nervous! I wanted to try my best to keep her legacy alive at Assumption and I knew it would take a lot of hard work and dedication. When the pandemic hit our campus hard, closing the school and forcing all activities to meet virtually, I became even more nervous. I was unsure and worried about how I would keep our small club alive during such chaos. I am so happy to say that we have been able to put together a very strong team that is hardworking and dedicated to putting out the best type of content that we can. I was so excited when I realized how many stories were going live for our first issue!

I am so, incredibly proud of every single work that we are putting out here. The fall issue is one of my favorites because I absolutely love fall and everything about it! One thing that I did notice missing from this issue was something of the utmost importance this year: voting. Valley Girl is a place for students to raise their voices on issues that they are passionate about, and voting is another channel for people to do that. This magazine lets people express their creativity and speak their mind on all kinds of issues.

I cannot stress enough the importance of voting. Valley Girl’s audience is mainly women, and it took a very long time for us to get our right to vote, so in my opinion, wasting it is not an option. Your voice matters, your vote matters. We all need to take this election year seriously. There are many things on the line and one way that you can help make change is through sending in your vote! Whether you vote by mail, early, or on November 3rd, just do it. Voting is a right that many people have fought for, take it seriously, make it count.

Our staff at Valley Girl magazine will always support every single person who enters into campus regardless of race, gender, sexuality, religion, ethnicity, or ability. The things that make you different from others are things that make you amazing. Please, never stop being you, we hear you, we love you, we support you.
